CONS: The back seat is cramped and uncomfortable; the ride of the performance package is not great; the quality of the interior is mediocre; the base engine is not that exciting; the V8 engine loses ten horsepower and ten pound-feet of torque

VERDICT: The Mustang is the ultimate American muscle car. It continues to be that in 2022, the performance and personalization options are inspired. Overall, this vehicle delivers everything you want in a sporty roadster.

Does it have any competitors or rivals?:

What’s interesting about the 2022 Mustang?:

·      Wide selection of appearances to help differentiate it from the competition

·      An EcoBoost Premium model offers 19-inch wheels, a clear taillight, and is a relative gas sipper compared to fellow trims within the Mustang lineup

·      There is a V8 engine options that delivers incredible performance

How about the prices and trims?:

The 2022 Mustang features five trim types: EcoBoost, Ecoboost Premium, GT, and Mach 1. The EcoBoost starts at $28,400, the EcoBoost Premium starts at $33,420, the GT starts at $38,470, the GT Premium starts at $42,470, and the Mach 1 starts at $55,195. The GT and Mach 1 each have a V8 engine that can deliver incredible horsepower, the Mach 1 outputs 480 horsepower. The GT also has a performance package with a standard manual transmission, Brembo front breaks, limited-slip differential, unique chassis tuning, and sticky summer tires. All in all, you get a lot of variety with the trims of the 2022 Mustang. That is one of the best things about this year's lineup.

The GT Premium, hands down. While the Mach 1 trim delivers slightly more horsepower, given that the V8 loses about ten horsepower, the extra $13,000 is not justified. The GT Premium has a powerful V8 engine and several excellent performance additions on the exterior and interior that helps accentuate the speed and handling of this pony. The combination of price, performance, design and add-ons makes the GT Premium our trim of choice.

What about its availability?

The Mach 1 has replaced the Bullitt, and the 2022 lineup is the sixth generation of Mustangs Ford introduced in 2015. All five trims are available now, and the EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium are newer versions introduced in the past few model years.

What about its performance and handling?:

·      The EcoBoost versions have four-cylinder engines but can dominate older V8 Mustangs and similar muscle cars

·      The GT versions have 450-horsepower V8 engines. The Mach 1 boasts a 470-horsepower V8 engine

The 2022 Mustang lineup delivers on everything you have come to expect from the premier American muscle car. The GT Premium with the performance package offers sticky summer tires, Brembo front brakes, limited-slip differential, and unique chassis transmission. This trim also offers a manual transmission. That alone continues the inspired tradition of the Mustang. All these trims deliver impeccable handling, and we think that Ford has done it again with the 2022 lineup being so fun to drive.

How’s the interior?

Interior Details:

The interior of the 2022 Mustang is complicated. It blends modernity with a retro flair that is incredibly unique. However, the Recaro seats are incredibly uncomfortable, and the quality of the materials in the cabin is unimpressive. The interior is the weakest part of the 2022 Mustang lineup. If this is the weakest part of your vehicle, you are on a good track.

Infotainment and connectivity synopsis:

Ford offers an optional Sync 3 infotainment system and comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The stereo system is fantastic, and you get an available Wi-Fi hotspot. The Ford Sync Connect allows users to monitor their vehicle via a smartphone app and comes standard. Given that you get a Mustang for the performance and driving ability, the amount of infotainment and connectivity options are very generous.

LIKES: The stereo system; Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard; Wi-fi hotspot; Ford Sync Connect is awesome

DISLIKES: The level of options is not very robust

How about the technology and features?:

The 2022 Mustang is all about its powertrain options and the performance package features. Those additions are incredible. The infotainment features are decent for a muscle car but not worth writing home about overall. Overall, the interior technology is decent, but the performance features are excellent. It is a win-win overall in this category.

LIKES: The powertrain options; everything performance-based

DISLIKES: Infotainment and connectivity options leave a lot to be desired

Quick Quirks: The available V8 engine loses 10 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque regardless of the application.

Some additional features:

·      Revised chassis tuning

·      Engaging manual transmission

·      10-speed automatic transmission available

How’s the exterior?:

Ford has delivered another good-looking lineup of Mustangs. Every trim addition is good-looking and will catch your eye. The add-ons with specific packages like the Stealth Edition, Ice White Edition, and performance packages accentuate the exterior beauty. 19-inch wheels, clear taillight lenses, a black grille, a scoop on the rear fender, performance aspects like sticky summer tires, and Brembo front brakes combine beauty with functionality. The exteriors of the 2022 Mustang lineup are genuinely fantastic.

What warranty and safety does it offer?:

Ford has included an available forward-collision warning system with automated emergency braking and an available lane-departure warning system with lane-keeping assist. The 2022 Mustang lineup also includes a blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert. Mustangs have solid warranties but nothing that will blow you away. A limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles; a powertrain warranty covers five years or 36,000 miles. Ford does not offer complimentary scheduled maintenance.

Are there any incentives and rebates on the EV?: Federal and state governments provide incentives to promote EV purchases. It would be best to consider these incentives before finalizing the purchase of any EV, hybrid, or any other Alternatively Fueled Vehicle (AFV).
